Exercises make you smarter!

Psychologists have discovered through research that physical exercises and activities can reduce stress levels to a great extent. Chuck Hillman, a newly hired professor of Psychology at Northeastern University seems to be following this method. Instead of focusing on memory, diet, body mass affect, attention, he would be playing ice hockey, biking or lifting weights. This is exactly what he ventures upon: ‘the relationship between physical activity and cognitive health’.

According to Hillman, physical exercises are beneficial for people of all age groups. It keeps you healthy in various ways and if you keep yourself engaged in activities since childhood, you are more likely to be healthier in your adulthood.

His education and his career in Sport Sciences and Kinesiology have contributed towards a better understanding of cognitive health in children and adults. He also earned the title of one of the most influential sports educators. He is also a part of the Advisory Committee of Health and Human Services of Physical Activity.

His study of the benefits of physical activity on the adolescent brain shows that a child who exercises and especially runs for 70 minutes tend to be smarter as compared to children who do not exercise. He also attempts to study the relationship between brain health and physical exercise in older adults.

The whole mechanism works on the habit of an individual where if one is attached to sports since his/her childhood, one will also remain attached to it for life. Therefore, you will always make time for sports and activities despite having a busy schedule.

Being enthusiastic about his profession, Hillman showed an interest in working with professors of the Engineering College for the purpose of making wearable fitness trackers. His goal is where he wishes to see the students and faculty members working together to create a science that will improve the brain health of the human race.
