Trump-Ukraine controversy

On January 20, 2017, Donald J. Trump took a pledge to faithfully examine the office of the President of the United States and to do the best to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. However, it seems he could not do as promised.Various people and groups proclaimed that the US President, Donald Trump has been involved in various impeachable activities before and during the Presidency.

On September 24, 2019 speaker of the House of Representative, Nancy Pelocy announced that six committees will undertake formal impeachment inquiry after reports of controversial interactions between Trump and the country of Ukraine. This inquiry will be based on a whistle-blower’s report. It details Trump’s efforts to influence Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden, his potential rival in the 2020 presidential election.

President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudolph W.Giuliani is also confronting an investigation by federal prosecutors into whether his involvement with Ukraine violated federal lobbying laws.Although Giuliani’s role is not yet clear in this affair, according to the complaint, Trump dismissed all the allegations on the post of Twitter. Giuliani travelled to different countries to meet with advisers for Ukrainian President to convince the foreign government to investigate corruption by Joe Biden in Ukraine.

Attorneys typically provide privileged, confidential services to their clients in the form of personal documents and also give alternative methods to attain the client’s goal that would be more in line with the law.

With this report, Jeremy Paul, a law professor and formal dean of the Northeastern University School of Law says, ”There doesn’t seem to be any indication that what Giuliani was doing with folks in Ukraine was advising the president on what legal avenues he could pursue verses which he couldn’t. In fact, it seems he was trying to influence a foreign government. That’s not legal advice, that’s diplomacy.”

The recent scenario is that now Giuliani is not aware of any rule that would prevent the president from using someone outside the government to engage in diplomacy. It’s been two to three weeks since the whistle-blower complaints that broke out and still the role of Giuliani is unclear. It requires a full investigation, relevant people to provide documents and then the actual status will be decided.
