The women who empower

The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description. When women understand and exercise their power they can remake the world. We need women at all levels, including the top, to change the dynamic, reshape the conversation, to make sure women’s voices are heard and heeded, not overlooked and ignored.

An Olympic gold medallist, an editorial titan, an innovative entrepreneur, a Zagat-recognized chef- each had a story to tell in the third event of “Women Who Empower” held in the Northeastern University in 2018. “It’s time that we all support each other instead of competing against each other,” Nastia Liukin, Olympic medal-winning gymnast quoted. “I think that this has been so refreshing to see so many women come together, be a part of this, and inspire others.”

Women must not wish to have power over men but over themselves. This is an important aspect to be considered before further discussing women empowerment. Women must be self-sufficient and learn to stand up for themselves. As Hillary Clinton famously said “Women are the largest untapped reservoir of talent in the world”, it is by and large visible with the passage of time how true it is. Patriarchy is doom to mankind and it is high time we stand united against this societal ill that is killing the dreams of millions of women who deserve to live their life at their own free will.

Symposiums like “Women Who Empower” will definitely help women connect and take a stand for themselves in the coming years. There will be more and more women who will come as the keynote speakers, who will address the audience, share their stories, and inspire many others to follow the same path as they did.
