Game of Thrones can officially be called as one of the most- watched shows. It gave the audience a taste of magical goodness and an amazing plot to swoon over. Rebecca Certner, a Ph.D. candidate in the Northeastern University writes about various scientific and fantastical elements which the audience witness in the show.
According to Certner, ‘The Wall’ seems sceptical through the eyes of science. The huge dimension of the wall, opposing gravity, can actually make it impossible to stand. The low temperature will break the lower part of ‘The Wall’ leading to form a mountain- like shape with an outward base. And also ‘The Wall’ will have a different slope structure making it more real.
Although incest relations are one of the important plotlines in the show, the biology of the character Joffrey Baratheon’s parentage seems a bit confusing and weird to Certner. How did one know Joffrey’s father without any paternity test? It is said to be the colour of hair but the heredity of hair colour is complex. And there also is a chance of Robert’s genes being masked by the dominant brunette colour. Therefore, just the blonde colour of Cersie and Jamie is no proof. Hence, according to Certner this sub-plot of Game of Thrones needs more evidence.
The third scenario is the wildfire in the Battle of the Blackwater. This one incident involves a lot of chemistry and formulas and the wildfire becomes totally possible. It is primarily based on Greek Fire which has a composition of petroleum. It burns and spreads quickly even on water surfaces. The green colour is emitted on burning plenty of metal compounds. Hence, the green wildfire is a part of medieval technology. It is because of these elements employed by the creators of the show that the mesmerising response could be achieved. It can be called a perfect blend of fantasy and science.
