The Old man was right all along: A case for Karl Marx

Karl Marx in his book “Das Capital” espoused the idea of economics as the base of society. He said that the most important factor in the modern capitalist world is Money. Economics form the basic structure of any society. The culture, norms, values, and more are all built around the economic structures of society. In this world of growing neo-liberal principles of economics, these ideas are manifested more than ever. Money is the basic “commodity” in almost all the socio-political spheres. Family structure, marketing strategies, policies of the government, and the formation of the government itself, everywhere Money is a dominant factor. History and the politics of contemporary time explicitly state the fact that nations that are less developed are more prone to conflict than their counterparts. African nations like Sudan, Nigeria, Kenya, and Somalia have always been poor and conflict-prone areas, which their other rich nations from the same continent have been relatively peaceful and contained like Morocco, Tunisia, et cetera.

In his book, “Communist Manifesto” Karl Marx states that revolution is possible only by the Proletariats as they are the real oppressed. In contemporary times, we are seeing a surge of students taking up the mantle of revolution and struggle for their rights and principles of the Enlightenment. Justice, equality, and liberty have gained strong ground in all the movements from Hong Kong to Chile. Whenever there is a decline in the economics of the country, it brings a lot of other problems to light. The decline in the economy of Venezuela brought a revolution against Nicolás Maduro, in Chile people are fighting against Sebastián Piñera. Northeastern University expert Amílcar Barreto states that Puerto Rico in 2015 was in a condition of serious economic crisis and one year later we saw protests and rallies marching against the government’s corruption and unemployment. These incidents reconfirm the remarks of Karl Marx. The whole society is under the crisis of freedom, where humans have been objectified and converted into a mechanistic creature. If we want to break the shackles of slavery to this system of oppression, society must rise to oppose and claim their basic right to equality and liberty.
