Staying at home is no excuse to be lazy and remain piled up in a corner. As social distancing and lock down rules keep getting extended, staying physically fit and healthy has become a major concern. While the corona pandemic outbreak seems to be getting in control only very gradually, people have started finding their own ways to maintain physical fitness. As most people seem to be resorting to exercising indoors, there is no harm in going outside to do this as well, as long as social distancing is maintained and necessary precautions, like wearing a mask and using a hand sanitiser, are taken.
Celebrities have taken to social media platforms like Instagram to share their workout routines, which get duly followed by their fans sitting at home. Licensed trainers and fitness instructors have used this opportunity to increase their audience by giving online workout sessions at reduced rates. These videos can be used for workout sessions with roommates or family members to make it into a bonding activity as well. While some have started going on jogs to nearby places outside their homes, others find fitness by walking their dogs.
Rather than staying physically fit, people are finding it more difficult to remain motivated during this period. Mind and body start to become complacent, getting too used to a passive routine. However, on the other hand, some others have taken advantage of this situation.
Julie Gaona, a civil engineering student from Saint Louis University, says that she finds it easier to stay motivated this way, because exercising gives her something to do with her free hours, rather than complain about getting bored all the time. Becca Cary, student of communications, says that her workout routine involves a long walk around the neighbourhood or doing free online classes that she can find. Whatever the manner in which you decide to stay fit, it is important to do this regularly to stay healthy in both body and mind.
