Northeastern’s step towards safe campus

The world is facing a tough time now. Dealing with a dangerous outbreak is a difficult task while it starts spreading abruptly. Being safe as well as trying to create a safe environment around us is the first and foremost step toward battling an outbreak. Similarly, the current breakout of the coronavirus in the Chinese region and its rapid spreading in neighbouring countries has given birth to fear and panic throughout the world. Many people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and some of them survived the fight, however many have faced unfortunate death for this contagious virus.

Northeastern University has taken major steps in preventing the outbreak to unfurl in its Seattle campus among the students and the teaching or non-teaching staff of the University. According to the guidance of the public health officials, Northeastern University authorities decided to provide online teaching facility for its students to oppose the illness from entering or affecting anyone at the university ground. The online course will be available from March 9, Monday for Northeastern’s 709 Seattle students. Ken Henderson, the University chancellor and co-chairman of Northeastern’s COVID-19 task force assured that he will not fail in taking measured steps in protecting his campus and its learners, staff, and faculty.

Northeastern’s staff and faculty members at the Seattle campus will be urged to work from home unless an emergency occurs including the ones in at-risk categories or a member over sixty years old or with existing health conditions. The students and the members are asked to visit their general physicians or the healthcare providers if any symptom of the coronavirus shows up and must self-isolate themselves to disallow the virus to attack any other person. The authorities will be alert in monitoring each campus situation and work according to the instructions of King County’s Department of Public Health.

Northeastern’s Seattle campus has shown fruitful results in participating in any social cause from its inception in 2013, hence the thoughtful initiative to provide a safe and secure environment in the Northeastern’s campus.
