Northeastern University’s rugby team is, perhaps, one of the most hard-working sports teams. It has got some extremely dedicated players like Isabel Haber, a student of behavioural neuroscience, who played a match against Boston University about 90 minutes after her apartment was burnt down. The team won the match and her friends applauded her for the victory in different ways. While some of them got her equipment she will need in her future matches like mouth guard and different gears, her fellow players raised a fund along with other teams in the area and donated various things. What all of this showed is the deep bond between teammates in the women’s rugby team at Northeastern University and how it has grown as a stronger and more coherent team over the years.
After two years of failure at the matches, Northeastern has achieved a consolation prize this time which is just a precursor to the bright future the team is bound to have if it continues to grow the way it has. Haber who is going to graduate soon talks about how she believes the team can reach greater positions and she is excited to see it happen.
At Northeastern University, it is not just academic or professional growth of the student that is given importance for but their overall development as individuals in all areas of their interest. Rugby is not the only sports team that has made the university proud. While the women’s field hockey team won the second position in the nationals at Virginia Beach, the men’s running team finished at position nine in the nationals at Kentucky.
