Is your refrigerator spying on you?

Most people are using modern technology to do various activities. How cool is that if you have a TV that allows to stream shows from online sites such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, if you have devices which you can control with your phone and also you have refrigerator when it’s time to buy milk or refill the water bottle and if you have voice-activated digital assistants such as Alexa or Siri then you have devices that are connected to the internet, also known as smart devices. This sounds super cool actually, life has become more convenient and enjoyable; from accessing massive amounts of information on the internet to simply experiencing an enriched personal lifestyle. It is undoubtedly true that technology is an important part of our daily lives. Recently at Northeastern University, a research associate Denial Dubois has also described in his research that these smart devices have made our lives easier.

Now, let’s just put it on another way, what if your operating system will crash or need updating, what if a plugin will stop working, documents will disappear forever even if you have saved them. You might as well give up on life completely. Most of the time technology doesn’t make your life simpler, it makes your life more complex. We spend less time reading books and talking to people and we really don’t think scrolling through Facebook headlines are making us anymore informed or intelligent. Sometimes, we think life would be better if it was lived in a shack in the woods with no electronic devices, we would rather spend our days enjoying our life and talking to the people we love, catching fish and going to sleep when the sun sets. No TVs, no smartphones and no other devices, nothing that demands our attention with a beep.

But, nowadays we actually cannot even think beyond our lives without these smart devices because these smart devices are playing an important role in our life, it makes us to do or to remember everything on time. However, we only need to imply the balance that we should not completely depend on these smart devices.
