While thinking about college days, we may not remember the boring lectures, but we will always remember the joyous moments with our friends. It might not affect us lot to think about our test scores, but if it is about first love, well even a roll of tissue paper may fell short to wipe off the tears. With all the sweet and sorrow memories form college we move on with our life. But for the student, who really loved his college, might have, at least once, thought to do something for the college. What could be the greatest gift to your college?
Let me introduce you with the best example of ‘college lover’, Henry Nasella. He is not only the member in Board of Trustees of the Northeastern University but also an ex-student from 1977 of same college. He has contributed himself in entrepreneurship, philanthropy and advocacy for the Northeastern University. Also he was the chair of the Board of Trustees between 2007 and 2012. In that period, he has contributed in development of the Northeastern University by various ways like, building of the interdisciplinary science and engineering complex and expanding the Northeastern University to Toronto and San Jose, California. Not only this, he even played role in launching the Northeastern University’s academic plan, Northeastern 2025. He is also a generous human being. In his life he has helped many first-generation college students to launch successful careers. He has also raised around 30 funds to help needy people for their education, in different aspects. His love for college paid off, as he was awarded with the Northeastern University’s top honor, The Presidential Medallion. With his gratitude towards college, he said,” Northeastern gave me a sense of calmness and confidence that I had been well-prepared. As long as I was willing to work hard, embrace change, take risks, there was nothing in front of me that I was not prepared to do or conquer”.
In my opinion, the greatest gift you can give to your college is by dedicating your life for its welfare and development, like Henry Nasella. Obviously, it could be a tough task for many of us, but the least we can do is contribute something or other for our college, with love.
