College life is often described as the most vibrant and bright phase of life. With so many new opportunities and never-ending curiosity for everything and anything college life becomes a million coloured collage; unique for each Picasso. However, this blend can often turn into a recipe for some chronic issues. Most of them are related to one’s health thanks to the food and beverages we have.
College life has become a subject of research now-a-days. We have got so many mouth-watering delicacies served at so many fast food centres. The concept of franchise brings in foodstuffs that are highly processed and high in sodium, saturated fat and sugar. There is no need to tell that these franchised centres are the chosen hang-outs for many student groups. According to an interview of Sabrina Noel Feldeisen (a registered dietician and research assistant professor in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences) taken by Northeastern University, overeating is a constantly seen in college going individuals. Due to all those late night study schedules, stress and all-you-can-eat policies of food franchises one subconsciously ends up overeating. If they forget to keep a check on their eating and exercising schedule then they are likely to suffer from the effects overeating in their later life. Many diseases like heart stroke, obesity, diabetes and even some kind of cancer are outcomes of this highly risky eating lifestyle.
Being a foodie is not to be discouraged but at the same time it is very necessary to keep a constant check on the quality of food one is eating. There are many good food joints that provide healthy yet appetising snacks and food stuffs. At the same time fruits, veggies and exercise should never go out of fashion. In addition, one can never drink enough water. Fruit juice and flavour infused water are trending alternatives.
Proper sleep, timely food schedules and exercise is key to happy and healthy life.
