Films and their latest trends

One of the latest trends in the film industry is the excess use of action scenes in their productions. The nature and the theme of something that results in a thrill and develops an exciting experience for the viewers is the new wave of production in films. Terrence Masson, executive professor of animation  at Northeastern University discussed these latest trends observed in films.

According to some reports, director Steven Spielberg recently said that several big-budget films tend to turn out a flop. To this Masson says that an original idea has less chance to be produced and that blockbusters will always be in the market. He would advise his students to plan smarter in pre-production and start shooting when you know it is not terrible.

Another trend observed is the Kickstarter Campaigns which was recently used by Zack Braff. According to Masson who believes in these campaigns, it still finds the future of it depends on model sustainability. Small production companies do offer individual investors. He further says that after some point people may get tired of having Kickstarter Campaigns and great projects will still continue to stand successful.

Talking of new technological advances, Masson plans to conduct a new elective course in Media and Screen Studies, Short Film Production and Development. This course will help his students to use and be in trend with the growing technology in films.

However good a movie is, it will not remain of any worth if no one sees it. Marketing and distribution channels contribute towards providing films a platform for the audience of the world. Strong competitions for filmmakers are the sites that provide content cost-free. These are Hulu- Plus, Netflix, and more importantly YouTube. Though this is not brand new, these applications will become successful and snatch the audience of films very soon.
