Field of pharmacy

“Pharmacists give life to medicines with the help of their skills and knowledge.”

Without medical science, human life would become imperfect and there would be a decline in quality of life. It helps in counteracting the sufferings of human beings that come into the scenario due to the advancement of human civilisation. Pharmacy is an extraordinary and significant field of medical science. It is the practice of uncovering, manufacturing, developing, supplying, and analysing drugs to check the safety, effectiveness, and affordability of drugs. The word ‘Pharmacy’ has been derived from the word ‘Pharma’ which means the know-how of production and administration of medicines. The people, who practice this profession (pharmacists), have expertise in the optimisation of usage of medicines for better health care purposes. This profession combines the health sciences with the chemical sciences and offers a very rewarding future in terms of money and reputation. There are many job opportunities for these people in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, pharmaceutical industries, etc. Students of Northeastern University learnt about the career options in the field of pharmacy.

Here are some reasons why society needs pharmacists:

Patients show the best recovery signs when their healthcare team consists of a pharmacist as they have expertise in medicines and even they use proper communication as a tool in improving medication adherence. One can meet pharmacists at any time convenient to him; we don’t need an appointment to get some of our health-related queries clear. They ensure that there is no side effect of medicine intake. These people make a huge contribution in the times of epidemics in checking the spread of infectious diseases by dispensing safe medicines.

Therefore, in the coming future, pharmacists will become more involved and united with the patients and the health system of the country due to advancing digitalisation in every field.
