Some people think that e-cigarettes or vapes are better than ordinary cigarettes and they do not pose the same risks as cigarettes do. However, the notion is absolutely false. Since vaping is not publicised about as frequently as cigarettes, the craze about vapes has swept across the globe. Introduced as a healthier alternative to smoking, vapes are built to give a nicotine kick by making the user ingest the smokeless vapour which does not involve tobacco. It has gained popularity among the youth but many are oblivious about the serious threat it poses to their health.
E-cigarettes may be safer than cigarettes but they are capable of causing various diseases like gingivitis and periodontics. It can also cause your gums to recede and lead to dry mouth. An increased number of deaths have been reported from the United States caused by diseases related to vaping. Dr. Fred Buckhold of SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, says, “The chemicals and agents in e-cigarettes are unknown. There is no consistency in how e-cigarettes are manufactured, and then you add the flavourings that may have more solvents and chemicals that could cause injury to the lung. It's just unknown — and so it's kind of the devil we don't know. Now I think we are starting to see the results of this." He says he’d rather suggest someone trying to quit smoking to use e-cigarettes instead because, unlike cigarettes, the effects of vapes are not yet well established.
Vapes have adverse effects on children using it. The dangers posed by vapes are much greater than normal cigarettes. Illinois Senator Dick Dublin called it a “deadly device” after it caused a number of deaths in the state. With the growing e-cigarette industry, it becomes difficult to differentiate the correct information about such gadgets.
