Do you really want your dreams to come true?

“Dreams” hold a crucial place in our life. Each one of us dream, some of us dream to become a doctor, an engineer, an actor, going on a world tour and the list goes on. Also, we all certainly know that dreams won’t become a reality unless we work hard for it.

Paul Valery quoted, “The best way to make dreams come true is to wake up”.

The quote sums up pretty much everything an individual need to know, to make their dreams come into life. But we do not always wake up to a good dream, there are times we wake up to a bad dream and that makes us anxious. Also, people believe in a superstition stating the dreams we have in morning sooner or later turns into reality.

Digging deep into it, let’s consider the story of a student at the Northeastern University. Zoe Bishop who is pursuing Biochemistry from the Northeastern University had applied for a Fullbright Scholarship. One day she woke up to a dream of her application being denied by the officials and she couldn’t stop her tears from falling. This made her realize how badly she wanted to earn the scholarship. Fortunately, her dream didn’t come true and she couldn’t be happier about that. Bishop was named a Fullbright scholar and gained the opportunity to spend a year in South Korea as an English teaching assistant.

I’m ready for Korea,” Bishop says, smiling. “I’ve been here a little bit, and I’m getting kind of antsy to move around.”

Bishop will now be among the nine Fullbright scholars celebrated by President Joseph E. Aoun at the Academic Honors Convocation. Coming from a nomadic military life, Bishop managed to pursue her goal with her dedication and hard work. Bishop further plans to attend medical school eventually, with the goal of becoming a professor of medicine.

“I still can’t believe it’s real,” she says.

Bishop managed to cock a snook at the bad dream she had that night and move towards her goal. This is something to learn from Bishop, fight the superstitions and keep fighting for your dreams.
