Cooking caps at quarantine

Staying indoors all day long can lead to frustration for people of today who have been so used to being engaged all the time. Finding new and creative ways of whiling away time could be a challenge. Tomi Delp from Saint Louis University comes up with interesting recipes to experiment, sitting at home – food that will not just fill your tummies but delight your souls as well. These are easy to make, can be made using a microwave by even those who are just starters at cooking, and gives a holiday mood as well.

Delp's first recipe is for mashed potatoes with a versatile flavour that can be made with minimum ingredients that maybe found in any house and in about 10 minutes. His next recipe is for a mac and cheese pasta, a classic that never goes out of style. Delp’s list becomes all rounded with a fudge for dessert. Relatively more time consuming than his other recipes, the dish is however, worth the wait with its chocolate chips and chopped nuts. The last item he recommends is a Black Bean Tortilla Soup that can be made in less than five minutes. With chicken broth, black beans, lime juice and tortilla chips, the soup will easily fill a hungry stomach.

The quarantine days can be really difficult with a lot of people to be fed at homes. This could be an especially tiring time for the womenfolk of the house who are usually considered to be responsible for cooking. With these easy recipes, other family members can step in and share the load by taking turns to cook for the family. These recipes also become a fun way of learning to cook something new and use this time productively. Adding ingredients or replacing a few can make it an active and creative learning process as well.
