‘Colognoisseur’ in The Bachelorette

This season of The Bachelorette promised some interesting contestants with interesting occupations. The ‘Colognoisseur’ (someone who is extremely enthusiastic and passionate about fragrances and colognes) Jean Blanc, who is a graduate of the Northeastern University, appeared as a contestant on the on-going season of The Bachelorette. He was among the group of 28 contestants, which included a sales rep, an attorney, a former pro football player, a stuntman, a banjoist, and a social media participant.

The ‘Colognoisseur’ Blanc grew up with an interesting story. Born in Haiti, he and his family immigrated to the United States when he was just two years old. He grew up in Boston and completed his Bachelors in Science in the field Engineering Technology from Northeastern University. He launched a construction company with his father and also held electrical engineering positions. He pivoted his career after he got an interest in studying finance and economics.

Blanc, who now lives in Florida, works as a purchasing manager in the global sourcing and procurement industry. The show The Bachelorette made him popular as the ‘colognoisseur’. This term rightly describes his love for perfumes. He says, “I have over 100 bottles. I really see them as an extension of my outfit and as an extension of my soul.” Blanc also desires and hopes to launch a luxury fragrance boutique of his own. Even though he continues pursuing his Master of Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, he continues to follow doing what he likes and is passionate about.

Not only this, The Bachelorette herself was startled with him. When they met for the first time in the show, Blanc taught Kufrin to say, “Let’s do the damn thing”. This was a catchphrase she used in French. After he left, Kufrin expressed that he smelt good.
