Changing for a greater good

A perfect melange is a combination of an entrepreneurial spirit and a humanitarian calling. And this melange was gained by Roshni Mirchandani, who is a graduate from the Northeastern University. She works as a business consultant for local entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises. This was a part of her field study program for the Social Enterprise Institutions in South Africa. She worked towards changing the condition and helped entrepreneurs succeed.

“I want to change other people’s lives as much as I can,” said Mirchandani. She  began working for Teach for America in Rhode Island. The institution selects graduates who can represent themselves as future leaders expanding educational opportunities in the hope of changing lives. They are asked to teach for two years in low-income communities throughout the United States.

It is this opportunity that guided her to decide and take up her career in education. She was inspired by Obama’s State of Union speech. He encouraged graduates to pursue teaching which would in turn help in changing the society. The speech was an eye- opening moment for her.

She says that she has always been passionate about exploring new jobs and opportunities. She worked at HubSpot which is an Internet Marketing firm based in Cambridge. Planning to make a career in business, Marchandani hopes to use her leadership skills. Also, she was a president at UTSAV (a student organisation promoting social awareness and cultural diversity), a leadership scholar and leadership consultant for the Lead 360 program (a component of Northeastern University’s experiential learning model). These organisations uniquely prepare youngsters to lead and encourage a process of changing for a greater good.

Inspired by such wonderful opportunities, Mirchandani says that she would like to start her own business and also wants to ensure that she brings about a good change in people’s life.
