Arts and science have a different scope of study and subject matters on their own. A mixture of both these fields can have an enlarged point of view towards an interesting topic of research and an amazing career. Emily Batt, a senior Physics major at Northeastern University brought the above practice in reality in her research on melancholy 17th- century monks.
The ability to see a subject through different points of views and also being able to analyse it in a different lens is an art itself. It gives way to realising various unknown facts about the subject matters which are included in both arts and science.
“Considering a topic from a new point of view or with a different methodology can bring forth new solutions to old problems.”
Her attempt in writing a research of this sort has helped her win many opportunities in labs and universities. Not only this, but Batt worked on various other topics for research. For example, examining the relationship between cancer and biological cells, making various biomedical devices, and has also created a science- based network of macroeconomic principles.
With outstanding success in the career chosen, people should also learn to maintain peaceful and kind relations with their family members, colleagues, and other social scenarios. One should actively be engaged in more than one community. You cannot judge yourself on the basis of what people think is right and likeable. It is essential for one to be able to make their own decisions.
Further, unique collaborations between arts and science make amazing ideas. And this becomes possible only when people belonging to different professional backgrounds come and work together in the same place. It will allow the mixing of perspectives and encouraging new career strategies. To support this, Batt thinks of initiating a studio in which artists and engineers will collaborate in making projects related to science and design. This will be an amalgamation of technology and aesthetics.
