An artist delivering his best of emotions to a canvas filled with different colors and a scientist exploring the facts and putting forward in research. So do you find any similarity between these two? The similarity is that science and art have the constraint that it has to correspond to reality and imagination side by side. Both the fields start their work beautifully, one with colors and others with concepts. “Science and Art equally are expression’s of man’s marvelous plasticity of mind” said by Jacob Bronowski, Scientist.
Art’s work is similar to that of neutrino, traveling freely through everything, going through all of our minds. Art and science are connected to history. There were days in which artists and poets led social movements, and nowadays technology is often associated with democratic movements and scientific evidence is increasingly important for novel policymaking. Scientists tend to struggle more gaining new insights. Artists tend to struggle more with communication. Both often work hard to gain background and skills.
Barabasi’s visionary science and Reszegh’s emotional art were a part of a conversation sat on Friday Feb28, at Northeastern University‘s visitor center moderated by Associate Professor of Graph Design, Iasabel Meirelles. The duo explored the different roads they traveled. Reszegh described his practice as sampling and collecting experiences from different people as if they were the measurement from an experiment.
So a connection is drawn between art and science. Applied Science is technology and Art is decoration. Technology and Decoration make life easier but they don’t change how we fundamentally perceive what is around us. Science and Art do.
